Sri Melangath Padmanabha Menon (M P Menon known as Pathanan ) was born at Melangath Family at Ernakulam on Avittam Nal of Kannimasam in 1904. His father was Mr. Ambatt Krishna Menon (known as Kittunni Menon) and mother Melangath Parukutty Amma. Mr. Kittunnu Meno was the Edappilly Swaroopam Kraisthan and later very famous Document writer based at Ernakulam.
Mr. M.P. Menon was the eldest son. He had his schooling at St.Albert HS Ernnakulam. Later the family shift to Puthenchira where the Ambattu Family is situated.
At the age of 18 he joined in Army and served for 3 years and after that joined in Kerala Police. At the age of 32 he married Cheriyil Subdhra Amma (known as Thankam) from Kaduppassery. She was a LP School teacher at Pullur Near Irinjalakuda. The family started living at "Uma Mandiram" Kaduppassery.
In 1979 Mr. Menon retired from the Kerala Police Service and started participating actively in Malayalam Sahithyam. His interested fields were Samasya pooranam,Akshraslokam, kavya sadasu etc. He ws the Exicutive committee memer of Akhila Kerala Akshra sloka samithy and member in Kerala Sahitya accadamy. He used to participate the Akshra slokam competitions held in connection with Trichur Pooram, Irinjalakuda temple festival. On a number of occassions he had paricipated in All India Radio Programmes.
On 20th August 2007 he passed awaya
